Obituary of George Harlan Merrill, 1918

I clearly have some learning to do about the right way to organize these things. Ah well, the information is all here, let 'er rip? Harley Merrill (George Harlan Merrill) was my great-grandfather. The baby was Harvey Burnett Merrill. My grandmother was 10 years old, and talking about these terrible months still makes her cry...

Harley Merrill, aged 46 years, died yesterday morning at 6:50 o'clock at his home on the Foss ranch on Tongue river. The remains are at the Champion & Shannon morturary but no funeral arrangements have been made. Mr. Merrill died of influenza, leaving a wife and seven children all of whom at the present time are seriously ill with the dread malady.

An infant child of Mrs. Harley Merrill of this city died this morning, and the body is at the Champion & Shannon funeral rooms pending funeral arrangements.
